2011 AISQC Show in Las Vegas
I don’t know about you, but I felt lucky to get out of Tampa safely following the Mid Winter Convention. With all the noisy canon fire, smoke, parading throngs of people, loud bands and kidnapping of the mayor, I was afraid we had been diverted to some foreign country.
That aside, however, the members of Audacity were proud to perform with and enjoyed getting to know our new brothers in harmony. It is an honor to be members of the AISQC.
For our next convention we leave the land of pirates for a city offering a different flavor of excitement. Known for its bright lights, strip of glitzy hotels, gambling and fabulous entertainment, Las Vegas promises to provide a fun experience for all. For our portion of Friday’s night’s show we will be paying tribute to two of America’s legendary entertainers; Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. We have chosen a medley of Elvis numbers arranged by John Hohl that is sure to thrill our audience which will be followed by Frank Sinatra’s “I Did It My Way”, also arranged by John Hohl, and which Frank often used to close his shows. Tim Brooks, of Stateline Grocery fame and now with A Mighty Wind, is preparing our learning CD’s which we expect to make available to you by the end of September. Plan on rehearsals to be held Thursday afternoon and Friday morning under the able leadership of our fine director, Joe Liles.
In addition to attending a wonderful convention in an interesting venue, we will be celebrating the 25th year anniversary of our organization. Doug Watson, our president, is working on a dinner banquet to mark the occasion which you won’t want to miss. Take a gamble and be a part of what is certain to be an important and memorable event. We can’t promise you a quiet weekend, but you most likely won’t have to deal with noisy canon fire and the threat of being kidnapped.
